FAQ

How often do I need to test my smoke alarms?

Smoke alarms need to be properly tested every 12 months, with any alarms that are older than 10 years needing to be replaced.

What are your requirements as a landlord?

From January 1 2022, at the commencement of a new lease or lease renewal, you must ensure your dwelling/unit meets the requirement of the domestic smoke alarm legislation.

Why do alarms need to be interconnected?

Interconnecting smoke alarms greatly improves the effectiveness of smoke alarms alerting people of a fire. The basic function of interconnecting alarms means that if 1 alarm is set off, all other alarms will go off.
